Aratika Cancer Trust Wellbeing Retreat

We invite you to join us on this unique Retreat for all those facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, past, and present. Register HERE

Aratika Trust is excited to be hosting our 5 Day Cancer Wellbeing Retreat at the Tauhara Centre, Taupo. We warmly welcome you to join us.

 

This Retreat is for people with a cancer diagnosis past or present who are interested in learning lifestyle medicine they can implement themselves to help improve their own health. We recommend bringing a support person if you can, they will take part in all sessions and join in for all meals & activities too.

 

Attendees are for any person on their cancer journey at any stage of diagnosis past or present. We welcome and encourage support persons and/or partners to attend too.

you will leave the retreat with a clear understanding around lifestyle choices that affect well-being, along with the knowledge and motivation to incorporate these practices into your daily life. 

Our experienced facilitators who will be running our Retreat:

Liz Malusching: - started her career as a registered nurse specializing in Oncology and Haematology. She is a trained Counsellor and facilitates Mindfulness Meditation seminars and Wellbeing Retreats for the Gawler Foundation in Wanaka. Liz has been running retreats for Aratika for 7 years.

Susan Brown: - has a background in physiotherapy alongside 19 years as a Wedding and Funeral Celebrant and is a Roots of Empathy Facilitator. Susan is an Aratika Trustee (currently our chairperson) with her own cancer experience and a strong interest in functional medicine.

Britta Norske: -  GP, Fellow RNZCGP, trained Meditation, and Nutrition Facilitator. Britta has a strong interest in nutritional and integrative medicine, particularly in relation to cancer
management. Britta’s own cancer diagnosis in 2010 precipitated much research into lifestyle changes for cancer which has convinced her that much can be done by anyone with a cancer diagnosis to improve their prognosis and quality of life. She 
has attended a Gawler Retreat and trained as a facilitator with the Gawler Foundation.

Accommodation Options:

We offer a range of accommodation from bunkrooms through to Premium B & B. 

The Tauhara Centre has the following: 

The bunkrooms are fresh and clean (some have single and/or double bunk beds) they come complete with linen/towels and the use of shared bathrooms just outside the bunkroom door. $695 per person shared (two people per bunkroom) or $795.00 for your own bunkroom.

 

There are four self-contained cottages available, each can sleep 2 people, either in a double bed or 2 beds. These are $795 per person - best for couples or 2 friends. (These are now fully booked for the Oct/Nov Retreat 2019)

This retreat for the first time we have premium B&B accommodation available at the Acacia Heights Garden. (NOW FULLY BOOKED)

Share a premium room with my support person - off-site private 'B&B' Accommodation  $850pp (or as a single $1,130pp)

All of the above prices include accommodation, delicious, tasty plant-based meals, daily juices and the 5-day programme.

You'll need to be able to manage your own daily health including pain relief and bring along any medications you require. We are 20 minutes from a doctor/hospital.

Please be mindful Tauhara Centre is in Taupo. If booking flights we recommend flying into Taupo Airport. This is about 20 mins from the Tauhara Retreat. You can book a shuttle with Taupo Shuttle Service  - Some people choose to arrive the night before arranging their accommodation or we can book you for an extra night at the Tauhara Centre - Please contact us directly around this.

 

**Subsidies may be available depending on funding available to us, let us know if a subsidy would make it easier for you to attend.

Cancellations received more than 3 weeks prior to program commencement will incur a Non-Refundable Fee of $200 per booking. Cancellations received less than 3 weeks prior to program commencement will incur a Non-Refundable Fee of $300 per booking. No refunds are given once the Retreat has commenced.

Transfer Policy - If you are unable to attend, you may be able to transfer to another Aratika Cancer Trust Retreat.
